Vandergrift Arts Festival
Saturday, August 4, 2018
11:00 AM - 8:00 PM
Grant and Columbia Avenues, Vandergrift, PA
The Vandergrift Arts Festival will take place on Saturday, August 4th, 2018 on Grant and Columbia Avenues in Vandergrift from 11 am – 8 pm. In addition to giving artists and craftsmen an occasion to share their creativity, the festival allows residents and visitors to experience the charm of our historic community. We are offering you the opportunity to become a partner in this endeavor. We have worked aggressively to introduce new projects for the festival that have been developed to encourage unity and pride within the community and to inspire local economic growth. Taking a page from the Smart Growth “Build a Better Block” program, a project titled, “Unity Through Art: a community arts project”, has been created as a first step toward the Smart Growth goal for Vandergrift. Although the details are a surprise, we are able to tell you that this year’s Unity through Art project will revolve around street theatre performances during the festival.
In addition to the new projects, we will continue our successful Palette Program. From May to September, approximately 30 palettes painted by local artists will be displayed on the streets of Vandergrift. On the day of the festival, artist booths, live art and music, numerous free children\\\'s art activities, food, and wine tasting will all be part of the festivities on Grant and Columbia Avenues. Over the past decade, the Vandergrift Arts Festival has attracted thousands of visitors and hundreds of artists and craftsmen, and 2017 was our biggest year yet, attracting over 2,500 visitors!
The Vandergrift Improvement Program, Inc. (VIP) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization and host of the festival. Since founding the VIP in 2004, we have been actively pursuing our goal to revitalize our small community of Vandergrift, a unique and historic town, by hosting events such as this. Over the years, the VIP has welcomed several enthusiastic members, all eager to assist with improving our town. Aleesha Kelly, a local photographer, has returned to be the chairperson of this year’s Arts Festival. If you have questions, please feel free to contact the VIP and/or Aleesha. We look forward to hearing from you and working together to make this Vandergrift’s best Arts Festival to date!
