The Allegheny River Development Corporation’s (ARDC) goal is to keep the locks and dams on the Allegheny River operational and secure by seeking necessary funding, maximizing hours of lock operations for all users, promoting recreational boating, lobbying for equal representation in government spending, promoting commercial navigation, and promoting economic growth as it pertains to recreation and commercial navigation in the communities that border the Allegheny River.

In cooperation with public and private partners, the Armstrong Conservation District promotes stewardship of the natural resources in Armstrong County. The Armstrong Conservation District works to restore degraded watersheds, promote sustainable farms and healthy forests, and grow vibrant and sustainable communities. The District will work with many private and public partners for the betterment of our natural resources and the citizens of Armstrong County.
Armstrong Trails invites trail users to enjoy hours of recreation on the 35.5 miles of trail along the eastern bank of the Allegheny River. The trail is a gem for those who bike, walk, hike, run, geocache, or are interested in history. There are plenty of opportunities to explore the beautiful countryside, signs of days gone by, flora/fauna, birds, wildlife, and, of course, the beautiful Allegheny River.

The Arrowhead Chapter of Trout Unlimited is a cold water conservation and education organization focusing on the protection and restoration of local trout streams and watersheds.

Formerly Scrubgrass OHV Park, Ben Franklin Range has over 65 miles of scenic trails featuring hill climbs, mud pits, and rock crawling gardens. This family-friendly OHV park hosts rides monthly and welcomes all off-road vehicles. The training facility sits on 1,100+ acres and will have the capability to host a variety of training and events.
Boulder on the Water is a privately-owned campground and marina located where the Allegheny meets the Kiskiminetas. This pet-friendly facility has electric, water, and sewage hookups.

Founded in 1980, the Cowanshannock Creek Watershed Association promotes activities aimed at improving the water quality of Cowanshannock Creek and creating a healthier, safer, and more aesthetically-pleasing environment in which to work, live, and play.

Crooked Creek Watershed Association, established in 1981, is an all-volunteer, non-profit, grassroots organization working to improve the water quality in Crooked Creek and its tributaries, preserve and enhance natural resources and habitats, and increase public awareness and education.

East Coast Glocks is a firearm, ammo, and accessories store featuring a variety of name brands. They are also a Federal Firearms License dealer with Class 3 NFA items available. Visit their Facebook page to learn about weekly specials.

Gilpin Rifles, Inc. is a members-only range that strives to provide a better knowledge of firearms, including safe handling, proper care, and improved marksmanship. Pistol, rifle, and archery ranges are available on-site.

Goodman’s Bait & Tackle is a locally-owned bait and tackle shop selling live bait, tackle, fishing and hunting licenses, kayak permits, and more.

K&C Firearms and Supply is a Class 3 dealer providing firearms, reloading equipment, ammo, tactical equipment, and gun transfers. They also have an in-house gunsmith and conduct light machine work.

Kiski Watershed Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the environmental education, recreation, conservation, and rehabilitation of the natural and historical resources of the Kiski River and its tributaries.

Presented by the Alle Kiski Strong Chamber of Commerce, the Kittanning Boat Races: Riverbration is an annual weekend-long APBA powerboat racing event full of fun, excitement, and thrills for the whole family. This free event offers live entertainment, children’s activities, exhibitors, and other activities.

For over 50 years, Leechburg Area Pool (LAP) has been a source of community connection and recreation. Tucked away in a quiet wooded area of Gilpin-Leechburg Park, the public pool features a high dive, slide, sand volleyball court, giant checkerboard, Gaga ball pit, baby pool, and an ADA lift. Pavilions are available for rent, and there are themed nights held throughout the season.
Nautical Mile Campground & Marina is a family-friendly campground and marina located along the Allegheny River in Pool 8 and Armstrong Trail. Amenities include electric, water, and sewage hookups. An on-site boat launch and boat dockage are available, and seasonal visitors and weekenders are welcomed.

Established in 1992, Promise Land is located on 1,900 acres near Freeport. They have two 16-station, fully-automated sporting clay courses and host sporting clay team challenges.

Located between Locks 8 and 9 on the Allegheny River, Redbank Valley Outfitters offers kayak rentals and shuttle services in the Allegheny River and the Redbank and Mahoning Creeks, as well as shuttles for biking the Armstrong and Redbank Trails.
New in 2023, RiverRiders Rentals is a rental company located in East Brady! This family-owned and operated business has kayaks, tubes, and bikes available to rent and provides shuttle services for your outdoor adventures!

- Shuttles will go as far as P10 – Rosston Boat Ramp (30 miles on the trail to East Brady), or Gumtown Park in New Bethlehem for the Redbank Valley Trail (25 miles on the trail to East Brady). Further distances may be discussed for an additional fee.
Rivers Edge Campground and Marina is a campground situated along the Allegheny River just below Lock 9 with camper and pull-in rentals, primitive tent sites, boat slip rentals, and more. Amenities include electric, water, and sewage hookups, internet access, and organized activities. Launch your boat or jet ski from the marina and enjoy all that the Allegheny has to offer.
