
The Allegheny River Development Corporation’s (ARDC) goal is to keep the locks and dams on the Allegheny River operational and secure by seeking necessary funding, maximizing hours of lock operations for all users, promoting recreational boating, lobbying for equal representation in government spending, promoting commercial navigation, and promoting economic growth as it pertains to recreation and commercial navigation in the communities that border the Allegheny River.

The Arrowhead Chapter of Trout Unlimited is a cold water conservation and education organization focusing on the protection and restoration of local trout streams and watersheds.
Boulder on the Water is a privately-owned campground and marina located where the Allegheny meets the Kiskiminetas. This pet-friendly facility has electric, water, and sewage hookups.

Goodman’s Bait & Tackle is a locally-owned bait and tackle shop selling live bait, tackle, fishing and hunting licenses, kayak permits, and more.

Presented by the Alle Kiski Strong Chamber of Commerce, the Kittanning Boat Races: Riverbration is an annual weekend-long APBA powerboat racing event full of fun, excitement, and thrills for the whole family. This free event offers live entertainment, children’s activities, exhibitors, and other activities.

For over 50 years, Leechburg Area Pool (LAP) has been a source of community connection and recreation. Tucked away in a quiet wooded area of Gilpin-Leechburg Park, the public pool features a high dive, slide, sand volleyball court, giant checkerboard, Gaga ball pit, baby pool, and an ADA lift. Pavilions are available for rent, and there are themed nights held throughout the season.
Nautical Mile Campground & Marina is a family-friendly campground and marina located along the Allegheny River in Pool 8 and Armstrong Trail. Amenities include electric, water, and sewage hookups. An on-site boat launch and boat dockage are available, and seasonal visitors and weekenders are welcomed.

Located between Locks 8 and 9 on the Allegheny River, Redbank Valley Outfitters offers kayak rentals and shuttle services in the Allegheny River and the Redbank and Mahoning Creeks, as well as shuttles for biking the Armstrong and Redbank Trails.
New in 2023, RiverRiders Rentals is a rental company located in East Brady! This family-owned and operated business has kayaks, tubes, and bikes available to rent and provides shuttle services for your outdoor adventures!

- Shuttles will go as far as P10 – Rosston Boat Ramp (30 miles on the trail to East Brady), or Gumtown Park in New Bethlehem for the Redbank Valley Trail (25 miles on the trail to East Brady). Further distances may be discussed for an additional fee.
Rivers Edge Campground and Marina is a campground situated along the Allegheny River just below Lock 9 with camper and pull-in rentals, primitive tent sites, boat slip rentals, and more. Amenities include electric, water, and sewage hookups, internet access, and organized activities. Launch your boat or jet ski from the marina and enjoy all that the Allegheny has to offer.

Rosston Eddy Marina, the only full-service marina in Armstrong County, is located on the Allegheny River in Ford City. They have a full-time repair Marine Shop and a well-stocked Marine Store for all of your boating needs.
Scott’s Scuba Service is a PADI 5 Star Center located in Freeport offering scuba lessons and courses. Their retail shop offers a variety of scuba and snorkeling products from leaders in the industry, and they service gear in-house. Their travel program takes divers on both local adventures and global excursions.

Steiner’s Outdoors & More is a sporting goods store specializing in fishing gear and supplies, including rods, reels, combos, tackle, and bait.

The Hook Up is an online and on-call bait and tackle shop delivering to Freeport’s public boat dock, boat launch, and private dock spaces. They also offer kayak and paddleboard rentals. Rental fees vary and include the boat, PFD, and paddle. Inexperienced paddlers or those unfamiliar with the area can also reserve time with a guide/instructor for paddling lessons.

Situated along the beautiful Kiskiminetas River, The River’s Edge Canoe & Kayak is a canoe, kayak, and inner tube rental company. They also have a full-service bait and tackle shop and offer shuttle services for paddlers.

Transue’s Tackle is a full-service shop selling fishing tackle, fly fishing and fly tying supplies, line spooling, and fishing licenses near the Allegheny River.
